Whilst this is less clutching at straws and more loosing grip on said straws, I do find it strange that Lafter gets a central role in the opening and Azee does not indicating more importance than a character who died only a handful of episodes after opening 4 first aired. However, for the purpose of this discussion I will outline two bits of 'evidence' that could suggest Lafter surviving the attack that have yet to be covered: This would be an even more pronounced effect given the efforts that the writers went to portray Lafter's death as sudden, rather than the usual drawn out "final moments". If Lafter was found to be alive, the next major character to die would not have anyone even remotely as upset as when Naze/Amida died. The outright horrors of war were so much more apparent because of this.
#SAW 2 CAST IBO SERIES#
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam was a dark and powerful series because it had no qualms in outright flattening the cast and KEEPING THEM DEAD. The more the story disregards death, the less impactful deaths of other characters will be and the less I will care for their wellbeing, as I can assume that some miracle plot line will be pulled out of the story's arse. Whilst on one hand I feel that Lafter had a great deal more potential for character development and was becoming a very likeable character who I would like to see alive to continue developing, I am also sceptical about the omission of morality that would occur if she went Jesus Yamato on us twice. Cutting it pretty close with the similarities. Then there was the framing of Lafters body with blood around her, then cut back to Azee after Eindroid, it was a similar frame, never saw her face and there was blood everywhere. Her lack of emotions is just way too strange given the situation. Especially from her reaction during the Eindroid fight when he axe smashed Azee and drill kicked Lafter into what we were led to believe was death. Her face and voice were way too calm and relaxed given what had just happened that just seems way too strange. Eco seemed way too calm when she was informing Tekkadan of Lafters "death". Then there was one thing that stood out as really strange to me. it really comes across as rushed with there only being 9-10 episodes left and so much loose ends and stories to wrap up.

Either it's a fake-out, or they messed up her scenes since personally. Then like you mentioned, all the sudden jump cuts seem to push us into that frame instead of giving time to see and process like every other major character death. Grasping at straws though, that "spray" could have just been some hair flying up as she began to fall. I really want her to be alive somehow, despite the apparent headshot and what looks like a spray of blood behind the window when the first bullet is fired. It makes sense from a story perspective that the audience would be pushed into the same mindset as Tekkadan in the next episode and be riled up for the coming battle.
